Basic Recipe
Ingredients:
500g ground beef (or beef/pork mix)
1 egg
2 tbsp breadcrumbs
1 small onion, finely chopped
1 tsp nutmeg
salt & pepper to taste
butter for frying
a splash of beef stock for gravy
Directions:
- Mix the ground meat, egg, breadcrumbs, onion, nutmeg, salt, and pepper until combined.
- Shape into 4 large balls.
- Heat butter in a pan and fry the balls until golden brown.
- Lower the heat, add a splash of stock, cover, and let simmer for about 20–25 minutes.
- Use the pan juices to make a rich gravy.
