Since opening in 1991, Brian and Sherwood have been committed to sourcing the freshest local produce at the best possible prices. Their motto, “Fresh is second to none!”, is more than just a slogan—it’s the guiding principle behind everything Briwood stands for. This dedication is seen daily, as the owners personally inspect incoming produce for quality and freshness. They remain hands-on in the store, engaging with customers, taking special orders, and setting a high standard for the team.
Another cornerstone of Briwood’s philosophy is “Customers are number one.” Brian and Sherwood lead by example, ensuring that exceptional customer service is always a top priority.
Briwood offers a unique and diverse selection of groceries, with a focus on ethnic foods that reflect the cultural heritage of St. Thomas and the surrounding area. From British and German to Polish, Hungarian, and Dutch specialties, Briwood proudly stocks products that connect customers to their roots. The store also emphasizes “Buy Local,” featuring a wide range of locally made goods that support area producers and strengthen community ties.
Community involvement is at the heart of Briwood’s mission. Brian and Sherwood proudly support local minor baseball and hockey teams, and regularly donate fresh produce and gift baskets to charities and events throughout the St. Thomas area. Each Easter weekend, the Girl Guides set up a table out front, and during the Christmas season, the Salvation Army is welcomed to the store. Throughout the summer, various local groups are invited to showcase and promote their products.
