Our Story
Dutch Delicious has been around for 60+ years. It started as a community bakery, owned by a Ukrainian owner who hired a Dutch pastry chef. This Dutch baker took over the bakery, and really turned the store around. His name was Peter Huppelschoten. With his wife, they owned the bakery almost 40 years. They even moved the bakery across the traffic circle to it’s current location. They added the Dutch groceries, and even lunches. When the time came to retire, they sold to a brother and two sisters that owned it for 5 years. Sadly to say, things were not the same.
In 2006, Siebe and Joni were able to take over and put down a solid product. The first order was five full pallets from “Hollshop Imports” (now Global Reach). The then sales reps, Jack and Pauline, helped a full day to stock the store, help customers, etc. With many blessings, sweat equity, gifts, renovations, and night hours, we are where we are. We praise God for the community we get to nourish and are excited for 2025 where we hope to complete our recent renovations! We truly have bigger plans and, with a grand vision, we plan to continue to nourish and serve the greater Edmonton area.
About Global Reach Confections and More
Global Reach has brought Dutch groceries to our store and tried to keep it “rrreal Duts” 😉 We appreciate the staple products and also the newer products that we are able to special order. Holland is so small, and yet you find Dutch people everywhere. It’s important we are able to continue to serve all who love the Netherlands and its products – thanks for your help, GRC!
