Our Story
Oranje Grove Dutch Shoppe is a family-run Dutch specialty store with deep roots in community, tradition, and entrepreneurship. Established in 2015, Oranje Grove began as a small booth inside the St. Jacobs Farmer’s Market. What started as a modest space quickly grew through hard work, customer loyalty, and a love for sharing Dutch culture—eventually becoming one of the largest booths in the entire market.
During the COVID era, a big decision was made: to step away from the market and open a full storefront. Oranje Grove launched its first brick-and-mortar location in Palmerston, Ontario, where the business flourished for four busy years. As the customer base continued to grow, the next natural step followed—moving into a larger, more central location. Today, Oranje Grove proudly operates in the downtown core of Listowel, Ontario, where it continues to serve the community with a unique and welcoming shopping experience.
Oranje Grove is best known for its fresh stroopwafels, along with a wide variety of Dutch groceries, traditional treats, and hard-to-find specialty items. The shop also carries a fun and curated selection of unique gifts, including Delft Blue, Dutch-themed décor, and hilarious t-shirts that customers love. Whether you’re searching for something authentically traditional or something new and playful, Oranje Grove offers a little bit of everything.
In addition to its extensive in-store selection, Oranje Grove is proud to support and collaborate with over 30 small businesses located in the Netherlands, working directly with them to bring their product lines into Ontario. This commitment helps keep Dutch craftsmanship, specialty products, and family-made items accessible to Canadians—while also supporting independent makers overseas.
A key part of Oranje Grove’s success has been the strong supplier relationships built along the way—especially with Global Reach Confections, one of the shop’s primary suppliers. Working with Global Reach has allowed Oranje Grove to consistently bring in the products most sought after by customers, and that consistency has helped build strong relationships, reliability, and trust within the industry.
Oranje Grove is owned and operated by Alicia Dekker, and powered by a strong support system of family and dedicated staff. The shop is supported by Alicia’s mom, Christa Klein, her daughter, Elise Dekker, longtime employee Dinetta de Vries, as well as additional help from her mother-in-law Elizabeth Dekker and niece Myjah Vander Meer. Together, they create a store environment filled with friendly faces, genuine service, and an incredible selection of products.
From a tiny market booth to a thriving downtown storefront, Oranje Grove Dutch Shoppe is a story of growth, resilience, and community—and it continues to be a warm and joyful place for anyone who loves Dutch culture, Dutch food, and a great shopping experience.
