Ramakers Import – Celebrating 50 Years
Our father, Henry Ramaker Sr., always dreamed of being his own boss. In 1975, when the Dutch store came up for sale, our parents asked if it was something we would like to do. As kids, who wouldn’t say yes? A shop filled with Dutch cookies, candies, and cheeses right at our fingertips!
We opened our doors on October 3, 1975 – and now, 50 years later, we are still going strong. Looking back, it’s amazing to see how much has changed. From bringing our own containers from Holland to working with trusted suppliers here in Canada. From our beginnings on Vine Street to settling into our home on Ontario Street, where we’ve been for 40 years. Over the pass 20 years Linde, Henry, Amanda and family / staff have continued the standard of commitment to customer service. Our father set that standard, and we proudly carry his values forward.
When people ask about our favorite part of the business, the answer is simple—our customers. Over the years, we’ve shared stories, laughter, and memories with so many of you. Many customers feel like family, and each one has left an impression on our hearts—the ones still with us, those who have passed, and those yet to come.
As a family business, we work hard to keep our prices competitive while offering a wide variety of products. Most of all, we are proud to share and celebrate our Dutch heritage with staples like Gouda cheese, Droppjes, Speculaas, and Boerenkool—just to name a few.
We are also grateful to all our wonderful suppliers for keeping us well stocked. A special thanks to Global Reach Confections, who have been a key partner with excellent fill rates, pricing, and service.
