Our Story
The heart of Windmill Meats began in a small town in Holland. Coming from a family with generations of successful butchers and shop owners, our founding butcher (Douwe) moved to Canada in 1974, looking to use his gifts and talents, to pursue his dream in Canada.
Windmill Meats started out in the Salmon Arm industrial park in 1993, with a small cutting and wrapping area and retail space. In 1995, the store moved to downtown Salmon Arm due to increased customer demand. In 2018, the opportunity came to expand by moving to the current location at Westgate Public Market. Today, Windmill Meats continues to be a full-service butcher shop and delicatessen, offering a variety of fresh meats, charcuterie and specialty sausages, which are all made in house including the traditional Dutch Rookworst! As well as European imports, cheeses and giftware.
Global Reach Confections has been one of our main suppliers for over 30 years.
